Putting the Muscle back into Classic Cars

Pontiac Superchief getting her going

April 24, 2024

Due to bad workmanship when the previous owner partially put the car together and simply from the car sitting so long certain things needed to be fixed before the car would run, stop and was made generally safe to drive. The Brakes in the car had seized due to incorrect assembly lubrication being used in the wheel and master cylinders. They were that badly seized we had to push the car down hill and Shane has had to do a full rebuild on the system. The Electronic fuel pump was seized so this was replaced with a mechanical one and the 2barrel Holley Carburettor had to be rebuilt because this had also seized. As you can see from the above photos the car was still running leaded fuel and Shane could tell when he had it running just right by the colour of the tailpipe, been a long time since we have been able to do that. Along with rebuilding the Carby and replacing the fuel pump we also had to rerun the fuel line as someone had run the line underneath the chassis, not exactly the safest place to have it. We also discovered someone had wired the car up incorrectly so that when you put the foot on the brakes the park lights would come on, the dash lights were all over the place etc... So Shane had a fun job of rewiring the car in order to get the correct lights working when they were supposed too.
